Introducing Leah

Leah

While we’ll have some mega news on Monday, here’s another of our game characters, beautifully illustrated by Grace Jennings.

Leah lives in a small town.  She is 19. She grew up there and works as a bartender at a local restaurant. She doesn’t have a boyfriend, and currently lives with her parents. While many of her friends are enrolled at the community college the next town over, and a few left town for college or to move to the city after high school, Leah is trying to save up money and think about what she would like to do. Her sister moved to Austin a few years ago, but she and Leah were never especially close, and the thought of being so far from home isn’t appealing. For now, she likes her job at the restaurant. She makes good money, and she doesn’t mind making small talk with the regulars. Her mother worries about Leah closing the bar at night alone, but Leah thinks her mom worries too much. Nothing ever happens here, and it’s not like Leah drinks on the job.

Introducing Latrice

Latrice

This is Latrice, as illustrated by Grace Jennings. Here’s a bit about Latrice:

Latrice is a 35-year-old lawyer living in Houston. She works at a firm downtown. The first member of her family to complete college, she is very close with her family and uses her money and time to help support her aging mother, who is in ill health, and to help her younger siblings. Her brother is attending community college after several years of working low-paying jobs. Her sister is a single mother to two grade schoolers. Latrice enjoys being able to help her family, particularly her niece and nephew. She lives with her long-time boyfriend in an apartment in Midtown. Latrice has never planned to have children, and between her career and family obligations, she feels she has her hands full enough. Her boyfriend, who works at a legal publishing company, is supportive of Latrice’s professional aspirations and is himself ambivalent about having children.

We are so excited to have Grace as part of the Choice: Texas team, and she’s already doing an amazing job contributing to the game’s look and feel. We’ll have more characters and artwork to share in the next few weeks.

Characters coming any minute (or any day)

We’ve been hard work on the game, and we’ve been working closely with a talented illustrator to help bring our characters to life. As part of developing a working prototype of the game, we’ve already commissioned some of the game artwork, and can’t wait to share concept art. Stay tuned for more news soon.
